English education id in the world and in Iran

A two-credit PhD course

Instructor: Dr. Shooshtari

 Objectives:

This graduate course is designed to help PhD students improve their knowledge base of the key issues related to the situation of English language education in the world including Iranian context. It specifically treats the subject matter in terms of the following themes:

 The history of ELT in different regions

 English language curriculum in various regional contexts

 Language teaching methodology in various regional contexts

 Regional varieties and the new Englishes

 Lingua franca English

 World Englishes and globalization

  Language policy

 Teacher education programs

 the future of Englishes
